Hi, so, set up the Playbase correctly and add the two One's. Then it looks like this: ROOM NAME (+LS + RS), if necessary + Sub. Then go to System on your smartphone and select the room. In Sound (below), you can select between Background and Full under Surround audio under Music playback, and increase the level if necessary. Of course, Surround Speaker must be switched on (button at the top). It works perfectly for me. But I had to look for the selection first. If it doesn't work, the reason could be a wrong setting on the TV. Hopefully it works, you can look forward to a great sound! Have fun.

Hello In my opinion, a classic receiver would be advisable in such a case. Especially as soon as the audio output "DTS" is important. Unfortunately, Sonos does not support modern audio formats (protocols). Such a receiver can integrate several sources cleanly, whereby Sonos could still be operated via the receiver and the optical input, but only in the audio format "Dobly Digital". Let us know how it was solved in the end. Greetings A.

This is possible, provided you have an optical connection. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this solution, because the sound image is only fully developed at a distance. I would rather consider a solution from Logitech, a product from the Z series, depending on your budget.

I had the base in operation for only 6 months without a sub. I actually found the bass OK for the flat design. At least the bass is better than with the Playbar without the sub. Then I got the sub to go with the Playbase and I haven't regretted it! The sub raises the system to a completely different level in terms of bass. However, it should be said that the potential of the sub cannot really be exploited in a rented flat with corresponding neighbours. If neighbours are not a problem, I would go for the sub. Otherwise, start without a sub and, if necessary, buy one later.

Hello If I understood you correctly, you only have an "analogue" audio output on the TV. Practically every reasonably modern TV should have a digital output (mine is 10 years old and has such an SPDIF output/input). Yes, of course, there are numerous adapters. However, the audio signal must be digitally transferred to the Sonos. Google for "sonos audio analog spdif digital toslink" in the forums this is often discussed. It is very likely that you will get further with this product - ordered from Digitec: 6154012

According to Sonos, the biggest difference is that the Playbar should be mounted on the wall and the Playbase is placed under the TV (http://blog.sonos.com/en/playbar-or-playbase-choose-your-fit/). However, some tests show that the sound of the two differs somewhat in certain areas. In the end, however, I would also recommend taking the one that fits better into your setup.

Yes, you can. For this, you need the Sonos Controller App under Windows, Android or iOS. In this app, you can add any NAS shares as a library. You can then stream any music or albums from the NAS to the Playbase via the Controller App. I have a Playbase with 2x Play 1 as a surround configuration. The sound is very good. NAS: Synology DS415+, Synology DS215j

The Playbase is itself a 3.0 system that you connect to the TV. You cannot pair it with a Play:5 as stereo. But you can of course use 2 speakers as surround, preferably 2x Play One, then you have a 5.0 system. That's how I use it. Does that help?

Re 1: Yes. To 2: You can connect the TV with a digital optical audio cable. I think it's called Toslink. So the TV has to support it, but I think most of them do. Re 3: Yes, of course. But it's not a classic radio, it's Internet radio. For this, the Playbase must be connected to the Internet router via WLAN (or with a LAN cable). The mobile with the Sonos app serves as a remote control and must be in the same WLAN as the Playbase. I personally use the Playbase with the Spotify music streaming service. Re 4: No, you don't need the TV to listen to music.
