Exactly, in order to perform a safe shutdown of a Synology or QNAP NAS, a UPS solution must have at least one USB interface. The NAS systems communicate with the UPS solution via the interface. If such control options are missing, NAS systems simply run until the UPS runs out of juice and then you may be left with a hard disk defect or a corrupted file system.
The battery is installed. Unit has been running without complaint since purchase.
If you have experience with larger APC units: This unit cannot shut down your computer.
I use it on small loads, namely switches (also POE) and NAS at the same time (coarser variety with 4 disks).

Hello, this APC model is not monitored, you have to choose a model with an rj11 plug, with an rj11-usb cable which may or may not be supplied, you can connect it to the pc with usb, and with the apc software you can specify everything.

No configuration is necessary. You just have to connect the power supply and the receiver and that's all. The RMS value of the voltage measured with a "True RMS" voltmeter is indeed 230 V. However, the sine wave pattern in standby mode is not very good. Depending on which device is connected, it may not work. For example, a breathing aid for night-time apnea will not work. For the Synology I tested and it works. Be careful to respect the real power of 300 W or apparent power of 500 VA. Do not forget to plant the small yellow bridge (provided) so that the integrated battery faces its office.
