Teardown: At least we can't break anything in the ElectriX Mechanic Simulator. Right?
by Philipp Rüegg
"Die Hard" is the perfect Christmas film - and so is the game. At least that's what I thought 20 years ago. We shoot our way through the pixelated Playstation 1 trilogy as Bruce John McClane Willis. It's going to be a (Christmas) party. The party starts at 1pm.
"Die Hard" may not be the most festive Christmas film, but it's still absolutely cult. To get you in the festive mood right now, we're playing the Playstation 1 classic "Die Hard Trilogy" in the last stream of the year.
The game was also released in 1996 for Sega Saturn and PC and consists of three separate games. "Die Hard", "Die Hard 2" and "Die Hard with a Vengeance" are each set in the setting of the film. The first part is a third-person shooter where you shoot your way through Nakatomi Plaza. In the second part, you move from scene to scene on rails and turn out the lights on terrorists who suddenly appear. On the Sega Saturn, you could use the light gun for this.
Finally, in the last part, you race through New York City in various vehicles and try to defuse bombs. In the process, you can also run over heaps of passers-by, which is why the game was indexed in Germany. Action, violence and destruction. The three pillars of every peaceful Christmas. Celebrate with me and Simon as we sing Christmas carols and let pixel terrorists explode in our Let's Play.
We stream most Wednesdays on Youtube. You can also check out our Discord channel.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
