"Airport Simulator 2014": We torture ourselves through the worst Steam game
by Philipp Rüegg
Prepare pistes, supply mountain restaurants with provisions and put lifts into operation. These are your duties in the "Winter Resort Simulator". Could this be any more exciting than the "Airport Simulator"?
Phil and I cut our teeth on the "Airport Simulator" in October. We lasted a whole 50 minutes before we had to abandon the exercise for the sake of our nerves. We were therefore delighted when we were offered new simulator fodder in the form of "Winter Resort Simulator".
Admittedly, grooming the slopes is definitely awesome in real life. But driving a Ratrac up and down the mountain is far less exciting in the simulation. Fortunately, there are other jobs in the ski resort: getting the chairs and gondolas on the right track, supplying the mountain pub with provisions and running the whole place anyway. Hello, have you dozed off yet?
In the event, this is more complicated and stressful than expected. It's just a shame that the graphics are dusty and the sound isn't really there. The animations of our skiing guests are stiffer than an icicle at minus 30 degrees and the performance ranges between 5 and 20 frames per second. The package is rounded off by very meagre content and a tutorial that explains nothing to you. This sounds like a perfect game for the stream of mountain doctor Phil and après-ski king Simon.
"Winter Resort Simulator" is available for PC and was provided to us by Aerosoft.
We usually stream every Wednesday on Youtube. You can also check out our Discord channel.
This is how we stream
When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
