The cable connects a PC with display port connection to a monitor with DVI input
I think not. Daisy-chaining must be explicitly supported by the display and generally works via USB-C or DisplayPort. Theoretically it would be possible, but I don't know of any displays that support USB-C daisy-chaining.
Unfortunately, this does not usually work. DP output to DVI input works, but not vice versa. This requires an "active converter/adapter" from DVI to DP, but even this does not work with every screen without exception.
The monitor automatically looks past all inputs to see if a signal is coming. It may be possible to teach the monitor to expect a signal only at the corresponding input. Then it might switch off when the signal is gone.
This can NOT work like this. The cable is ONLY designed for the signal path from DisplayPort to DVI. So it would only work if your graphics card has a DisplayPort output and your monitor has a DVI input.
I'm afraid it only goes in the direction of Source -> DP -> DVI. Unfortunately, I can't test it because none of my screens have a DP input. But the datasheet, which was linked in other questions here, only shows DP as input: https://www.pc-ostschweiz.ch/gfx826520org/ Also on Roline's site (new apparently secomp international) see: "Remark: The DisplayPort to DVI cable is only working in one direction: the DisplayPort plug has to be connected to the source device (e.g. graphic card)" https://www.secomp-international.com/en_US/value-displayport-cable-dp-dvi-24-1-m-m-2-0-m/i/11.99.5610-10 So only source -> DP -> DVI -> screen.
