Yes - Removing the ink cartridges does NOT work, then the printer does not work. However, if you set the default setting of the printer driver to black and white when setting up the printer on the PC/Mac, everything is printed in black and white, even if it is in colour on the screen, so the colour toners are practically not used up.
Yes, this is easily possible after setting up Brother Web Services via a computer (Win & Mac). Once set up, the PC is no longer required. You can find the corresponding instructions for the common cloud providers at:

The device itself does not. If you save to a connected USB stick (e.g. a pdf), OCR is not supported.
But the supplied software (Brother Control Center, Paper Port or iPrint&Scan) certainly supports this or possibly also when saving via the "Cloud" (Scan to Server = must be activated, i.e. Internet FAX Installation Tool) - but I'm not sure about this. Ultimately, it depends on the application (software).

Max. 3xLT-330CL (=3x250 sheets + standard drawer 250 sheets) are possible.
With the MFC-L8900CDW + MFC-L9570CDW the larger additional trays LT-340CL (500 sheets) are also possible, but max. 2 pcs.
But to answer your question: I would not put the additional trays on top, but generally several are possible ;-)

Yes, 4 toners (1x black = BK, 1x cyan, 1x magenta, 1x yellow) are included when you buy the machine, see "Specifications" - "Scope of delivery".
The included toner cartridges BK: approx. 3'000 pages + CMY approx. 1'800 pages) are fully filled and correspond to the standard toner TN-421 - approx. 3'000 pages black. 1'800 pages CMY :-) :-) :-)
Optionally, even larger "Jumbo Toners" are available for "frequent printers" :-)

Yes, the TN-241x or TN-245x only fit the following devices: HL-3140CDN, HL-3150CDN, HL-3170CDW, DCP-9015CDW, DCP-9020CDW, MFC-9140CDN, MFC-9330CDW, MFC-9340CDW and not in these. The above-mentioned devices are gradually being replaced by a new series with DR-243CL consumables or TN-243x/TN-247x toner.
This means that some of the models listed above are on "clearance" and can be found quite "cheaply".

Cashback is never "already included". The device is purchased at the stated price, and then the cashback amount is requested from the manufacturer and transferred to your account by the manufacturer if the conditions are met. (Which can take a few weeks).
No. This one uses TN-421 or TN-423 toner. The MFC-9340CDW uses TN-241 or TN-245 toner. You find the right cartridges normally on the product page of each printer under Accessories -> Toners

Yes, that is possible. The machine has an original glass up to size LGL/LTR - i.e. larger than A4. The scanner comes to light when you lift the upper white part (document feeder).

4 toners are supplied with the purchase of a Brother MFC-L8690CWD. This means you can start printing straight away. You have to provide your own paper for the printer.
However, the refill does not correspond to the original quantity, so you have to buy replacement toners quite quickly
