Does this take the same Toner cartridges as the brother MFC-9340CDW?

No. This one uses TN-421 or TN-423 toner. The MFC-9340CDW uses TN-241 or TN-245 toner. You find the right cartridges normally on the product page of each printer under Accessories -> Toners
