Depending on the supplier: The Rode smartLav+ does not work directly with the Zoom H4n. We recommend using the Rode smartLav GO with the Zoom H4n. The smartLav Go is basically the same microphone, but with a different connector, which will work directly with the Zoom H4n. Here is the article RØDE Lavalier GO (Interview / Conference)

It seems to be a really stupid problem that others also have. Also in the Huawei community. Does the problem also exist if they use a headset instead of the microphone ? (see Youtube video) In the questions another user posted a compatibility list, Huawei is not on it. Have you ever tried to ask the manufacturer? https://de.rode.com/contact If you select Switzerland, you will even see a customer service centre in Zug, including phone number and email. Otherwise, fill out the form. Then I found these options (part other Huawei model, but it's always the same problem): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkRM2Lcm4GI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2S7DxNSKmM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJOOKjCNTC0

The mic is very practical, clear and handy for voice recordings, comments and zoom. It can never be compared to a special sound microphone. But editing the sound afterwards is an option. If top sound is important, it's probably not the best choice. Tip: If you have it, you are well equipped for recordings and podcasts. And it's always with you.

The bundle includes an adapter for the PC. On an iPhone, further adapters are required, either to Lightning or USB-C. Note that the Micro needs a supply voltage, which is not set on all devices. Where this is available, the quality is very good. A lavalier micro is not intended for a tripod, but for clipping onto a piece of clothing.

Hi Nadja, I use the same Røde SmartLav+ on my smartphone and on my Zoom H4n, works great on both. I assume you bought a Hama Sound Card because you wanted to connect the lavalier clip-on mic directly to the iMac? It doesn't have a microphone input (line in), regardless of whether it's a stationary or mobile laptop. My MacPortable and PowerBook 100 still had one, but that was in the early 90s ;-) It's a pity that the jack-to-USB card was no good... but you also mention Zoom. I do it that way, and I would recommend it to you: Record the sound outside the Mac on the Zoom, then process it inside the Mac (transfer the Zoom file to a USB stick or directly from the SD card). How do you get the best video sound? (I assume that this is your real goal). The most important thing is that the sound is lip-synchronous (i.e. it matches the picture, not shifted). Because you have a video recording (picture and sound are always synchronous) and the independent zoom. In the video processing, however, you can then superimpose the different sound tracks in exactly the right time by ear. It is even better to use a "flap", which you hold in the picture at the beginning and close loudly - you know this from Hollywood. And... action. So you run the camera and the zoom at the same time, either near the camera or more near the speaker who is being filmed. To do this, plug your Lav+ into the "Ext Mic" jack and place the mic on the speaker's jumper or collar. If he/she is standing further away, you will need an extension cable with 3.5mm jacks. Set the zoom to "4CH" so that you record 4 audio tracks: 2 from the lav+ at the speaker and 2 with ambient sound from the two crossed, built-in zoom mics. Their recording quality is better than the recording of the video camera and replaces it immediately: In the video processing you have 6 audio tracks after the import. As soon as you have snychronised the 4 zoom tracks with the video sound, you can delete the video sound tracks. Now you only need to mix the close audio tracks (Lav+) and the ambient audio tracks (Zoom cross mics) until it sounds natural. I hope I could help you with this. Best regards and stay xund - CAT.

You can of course use it to record a rock concert, a violin concert or even the floor.... :-) And now seriously: Of course you can record a rock concert, the question is only what quality you expect from the recording in the end. Microphones today are available in many different types, specifications and designs, which in the end is always reflected in the quality of the recording. This microphone has the characteristic of recording speech at a certain proximity in the highest quality. A lot of bass, 100db and a certain distance to the concert speakers are certainly not ideal for this mic. However, as mentioned, recording is certainly possible. But it might also be forbidden... ;-)

Well, it's like this. The supplied adapter (SCR3) makes it possible to use the mic on devices other than a smartphone. It can be connected to the laptop without an adapter, but the quality suffers noticeably (there is a clear noise in the background). I have already recorded some audio files on my HP Pavilion notebook with the SmarLav+, which works (with adapter). However, the mic tends to overload when you talk a little louder in between. I think this is because the in-house audio converters are usually not that good, even with more expensive devices. For a mic in connection with a laptop/PC, I advise you to buy one with a USB connection if possible. Greetings Patrick
