Hello, I use this microphone with my iPhone, I love it. Now I want to use it with my Mac computer, what kind of adapter or adapter do I need? I bought the USB stick from hama USB Sound Card, but it doesn't work. How could I connect it? So that I can use Zoom with this clip-on microphone. Thank you very much. Greetings

Hi Nadja,
I use the same Røde SmartLav+ on my smartphone and on my Zoom H4n, works great on both. I assume you bought a Hama Sound Card because you wanted to connect the lavalier clip-on mic directly to the iMac? It doesn't have a microphone input (line in), regardless of whether it's a stationary or mobile laptop. My MacPortable and PowerBook 100 still had one, but that was in the early 90s ;-)
It's a pity that the jack-to-USB card was no good... but you also mention Zoom. I do it that way, and I would recommend it to you: Record the sound outside the Mac on the Zoom, then process it inside the Mac (transfer the Zoom file to a USB stick or directly from the SD card).

How do you get the best video sound? (I assume that this is your real goal).
The most important thing is that the sound is lip-synchronous (i.e. it matches the picture, not shifted). Because you have a video recording (picture and sound are always synchronous) and the independent zoom. In the video processing, however, you can then superimpose the different sound tracks in exactly the right time by ear. It is even better to use a "flap", which you hold in the picture at the beginning and close loudly - you know this from Hollywood. And... action.

So you run the camera and the zoom at the same time, either near the camera or more near the speaker who is being filmed. To do this, plug your Lav+ into the "Ext Mic" jack and place the mic on the speaker's jumper or collar. If he/she is standing further away, you will need an extension cable with 3.5mm jacks. Set the zoom to "4CH" so that you record 4 audio tracks: 2 from the lav+ at the speaker and 2 with ambient sound from the two crossed, built-in zoom mics. Their recording quality is better than the recording of the video camera and replaces it immediately:
In the video processing you have 6 audio tracks after the import. As soon as you have snychronised the 4 zoom tracks with the video sound, you can delete the video sound tracks. Now you only need to mix the close audio tracks (Lav+) and the ambient audio tracks (Zoom cross mics) until it sounds natural.

I hope I could help you with this.
Best regards and stay xund - CAT.
