the PC is really quite old :-) The ATI FireGL V5600 PCI-e still had a PCIe bus version 1.0, but the mainboard may already have V2.0. The GT 710 has a PCIe bus version 2.0, but is basically downward compatible. That will work.
Change the display from the adapter directly to the VGA. This way you know if both displays work and are recognised with each connection. It is possible that VGA and DVI use a common connection (in the graphics card). However, this should be stated in the properties or in the operating instructions. If this is the case, you will have to switch to the HDMI connection for one display.
Yes to the slot, yes to Win10 and no idea about Ubuntu ... but should work with a current system ;)
Normally yes, but your information about the computer is a bit wrong. If you have a 64 bit operating system and a free PCI express x16 slot (in case of a compact desktop, low format, also free space next to it), it works. Oski
Possible, yes, but I don't know how useful it is: Your Mobo: PCIe "1.0", Graka: PCIe 2.0. In principle, PCIe is downward compatible, just slower. The graphics unit is located in the CPU at the moment (integrated graphic solution). The external graphics card may solve the current problem, but it is a matter of time before the entire CPU gives up the ghost. Of course, it could also be the components between the CPU and the VGA output, but you probably don't know that? What about the drivers for your current OS? Do they exist? Just a few points that might help you.
How small is it? You have to look at the length of the card: 146mm.
Yes.
No, you can't. The map here is for PCs.
