https://avm.de/produkte/fritzbox/fritzbox-5530-fiber/technische-daten/ But you are comparing products from different price ranges, which is reflected in the different features. If you want more features than the 5530, there is the 5590. https://avm.de/produkte/fritzbox/fritzbox-5590-fiber/technische-daten/

The AON version worked perfectly with my Swisscom connection. Unfortunately, the Swisscom subsidiary Wingo was not prepared to set up an AON connection for me. I didn't want to spend money again on a PON version of the FB 5530, so now I'm with another provider.

This one has an AON terminal (unfortunately not described anywhere, but it used to be the only one sold in retail in Switzerland), the one from the link apparently GPON. The general chatter from the description that the 5530 can do all three technologies (yes, it's true) is unfortunately of little help, because you need the right terminal ("modem"), because all three are by no means supplied. The next challenge is to find out which technology your own provider uses, which is usually not mentioned anywhere. I was lucky that 1. AON fitted and 2. my provider has a competent and friendly second level support who gave me the information in advance.

I have never configured the 5530 as a repeater or as an IP client. However, I have configured other current and older AVM models. It has always worked without any problems. It won't be any different with the 5530.

That's what I thought too, especially since it can be written on the packaging (possibly only on the used/refurbished units?). As far as I could find out after painstaking research, the 5530 is only sold with one SFP module in Switzerland, namely the AON. Finding out which technology the respective network provider uses is the next big challenge; transparency is scarce here as well. I was lucky to find a very nice and competent employee in the second level support of the (small) provider who answered my questions clearly. The AON module supplied fitted, so I didn't complain further about the GPON module "missing" here.

Addendum: Sorry about the bad answers, I guess I got too influenced by users who were upset about Sunrise. And I couldn't find key information I needed for understanding anywhere on the internet. I briefly checked with AVM. But now I can explain why it worked for you; at least I hope so... - I knew about the VLAN ID - But then there is also the MAC address, which Sunrise can simply block or not release. Basically, when a router connects to the provider, the provider can read out the device information and if it's not "approved", there's no access to the internet. A user recently confirmed this to me. But because Sunrise offers the Fritzbox 5530 itself to its customers, Sunrise cannot determine whether it is a third-party router or not. And even if they could, it would probably be an extremely bad idea to tell customers that they are not allowed to use exactly the same router that they offer themselves. And yet, someone has allegedly asked for the VLAN ID in no uncertain terms, and support has said just as clearly that you don't give it out. Sunrise is the only provider that deliberately behaves in this way and in principle this procedure is against the law. You could complain to the ombudscom if you wanted to. In Switzerland, there is no provider or router obligation. If I haven't gone too far out on a limb... And I have learned something again, thank you for that.

The XGS-PON is not supplied and currently no one offers it in Switzerland. This would also have to be approved by the Internet provider for it to work. This FritzBox 5530 therefore only works with 1Gbit.

Good morning.... should or must work. Had (have again) the same installation as you (with Synology RT2600ac), briefly attached the Fritte 5490, everything worked perfectly. Only that I / we did not like this part so much... :) . See also link: https://ch.avm.de/service/fritzbox/fritzbox-5530-fiber/wissensdatenbank/publication/show/37_Unterstutzte-Glasfaseranschlusse/
