AVM FTTH Router FRITZ!Box 5530, with AON SFP
Hello together-we are with Sunrise and have an Internet Light product with login information. Unfortunately, we can't get on the internet with the FritzBox 5530. I am not sure whether the modem is broken? An IT specialist visited us on Saturday and checked all the settings. Everything is OK and, according to Sunrise, the fibre-optic connection also works perfectly. Does anyone have the same problem or a hint? THANK YOU! Best regards Daniela
Addendum:
Sorry about the bad answers, I guess I got too influenced by users who were upset about Sunrise. And I couldn't find key information I needed for understanding anywhere on the internet. I briefly checked with AVM.
But now I can explain why it worked for you; at least I hope so...
- I knew about the VLAN ID
- But then there is also the MAC address, which Sunrise can simply block or not release.
Basically, when a router connects to the provider, the provider can read out the device information and if it's not "approved", there's no access to the internet. A user recently confirmed this to me.
But because Sunrise offers the Fritzbox 5530 itself to its customers, Sunrise cannot determine whether it is a third-party router or not.
And even if they could, it would probably be an extremely bad idea to tell customers that they are not allowed to use exactly the same router that they offer themselves. And yet, someone has allegedly asked for the VLAN ID in no uncertain terms, and support has said just as clearly that you don't give it out.
Sunrise is the only provider that deliberately behaves in this way and in principle this procedure is against the law. You could complain to the ombudscom if you wanted to. In Switzerland, there is no provider or router obligation.
If I haven't gone too far out on a limb...
And I have learned something again, thank you for that.
I have checked again because of the scope of delivery. In Switzerland, only the international version is delivered. All dealers in Switzerland only offer this version. In short: You should have received an AON SFP+ module including fibre optic cable.
The module is probably already plugged into the router. Furthermore, this AON module is only suitable for 1Gb/s, if you have a 10Gb/s subscription, a different module is required.
My tip: If it doesn't work by tomorrow, ask Sunrise for a technician.
The problem is always with Sunrise when I read comments from other users.
- Either the device has not yet been registered (MAC address).
- Or they have received the wrong device or the wrong SFP module.
- Or something at Sunrise, they don't know what it is, etc....
-> you can hardly do anything wrong.
