No, such a card always goes in the shortest slot on the board, not in the x16, where the graphics card, if present, is plugged in, but in the x1! This is usually at the bottom. Either way, the WLAN card must be in the shortest slot on the board. If you have several short ones, use the one where the rest of the parts still have enough space. The card directly in front of the graphics card fan would be bad. You can already see that.

Helpful answer

Why put a WLAN card in a WiFi mainboard at all? Wireless internet is already in there... 🤔 Bluetooth too (useful for controllers). The card and board both have WiFi 6, so this card doesn't add any value. Of course, this WLAN card still fits on the board, preferably in the lowest slot (short PCIe x1 slot). and logically there is no need for a patch cable, otherwise it wouldn't be a WLAN card (wireless = wireless).

If it is not possible to move the graphics card to another slot so that the slot is free, depending on the case or with a case, you can also use a "riser cable" and place the graphics card differently in the case. With an angled riser cable on the F side (=female) of the cable, i.e. where the card is then inserted, it should work in principle with any case. Depending on the graphics card, however, PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0 compatibility must be ensured. I don't know at the moment whether there are 4.0 riser cables. Otherwise, always choose a mainboard with more PCIe slots right from the start. Then you are a bit more flexible with the slots. However, this again depends on how many PCIe cards you want to install, what slots the mainboard offers and which PCIe standard (1x/4x/8x/16x) the cards come with.

What do you mean by good values? I achieve over 800Mbit over 10 metres and a closed door with this adapter with the appropriate configuration and a good router. How good the card is depends largely on the capabilities of the router. Otherwise, the PCE-AC88 would also be worth considering. In my case, the PCE-AX58BT is faster because the router can also use all the advantages of the card and vice versa.

Hello Nemoc123 I had the same problem under Windows. It helped me to change the playback device from WH-1000XM3 Hands Free to WH-1000XM3 Stereo. However, this leads to the fact that microphone does not work at all or only badly (tested in Discord).
