if you want something on the shop: Arctic Silver ArctiClean 30+30ml (60g) If you want to dissolve a pad, it might be useful! With paste, I have so far simply scraped off finely, handkerchief and then ethanol and these moist spectacle cleaning cloths^^. I have never had to remove a pad! Here is the link to the description http://www.arcticsilver.com/arcticlean.htm

We are transparent about our prices and do not increase them artificially. The minimum quantity surcharge is levied on certain product categories so that we can offer our customers more favourable prices.

It depends on which manufacturer. But this one is quite good. For water cooling, however, Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut is the best. I don't know if it's wise to smear a paste like this one, which also contains some silver, on an AIO cooling system. I would make sure and use the Hydronaut. A grain of rice in the middle is tried and tested, simple and covers the largest part in the middle, where it is most important. Some say you can also use a pea-sized portion.

Is 1g enough for the cpu

Approx. 1 gram is enough for a CPU. As a rule, you underestimate the Mende and apply far too much. But a wafer-thin layer (according to the Internet 0.3 mm) is enough. The surface is smooth, it's just a matter of smoothing out the irregularities that are not visible to the eye and ensuring that the metal surfaces stick together so that there is no air in between. I apply a small amount in the middle of the CPU (about half of a pea). Then I press the cooler onto it and take it away again. You can then see how the paste has spread. If the heatspreader is not completely covered, apply a very small amount again and then mount the cooler. You can also spread the paste carefully, e.g. with a piece of cardboard. You will then immediately notice if you have applied too much. If the paste runs over the edge of the heat spreader, it is too much.

I bought the paste yesterday. I read the manufacturer's description, and it clearly states that you have to apply the paste very thinly, and then work it very thoroughly into the pores of the metal surface with a chalk card, and then clean everything with coffee filter paper. Never touch it with your fingers, or allow any dust particles or hair to fall on it. The description is very long and difficult to understand. It talks about forming a 1 mm wide line with the paste in the middle of the processor, and then pressing the cooler onto it and turning it around. This creates a circle of paste. Then fix it. But I can't turn the cooler around! What do I do now? I didn't understand that this step is compulsory? Now comes the best part from the manufacturer: Between 50 and 200 hours, the computer will often freeze or switch itself off. And it does! If I reach my Ubuntu, I try to save my data, but the computer then shuts down. Here is the manufacturers pdf file how tu use the product: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appmeth/int/vl/intel_app_method_vertical_line_v1.1.pdf On the bottom of page 6, it is explained that for 200 hours of operation, the computer constantly becomes unstable. What is the opinion of the Digitec specialist? I have tried both methods: -first applied thicker and spackled with a bone letter opener. That's how I got the computer runs. -Now I have visited www.arcticsilver.com and read the instructions for use very carefully. The computer shuts down, sometimes it doesn't even reach the Ubuntu.

Hello. You did everything right except remove the paste with coffee filter paper. Simply spread so much (little) paste evenly on the CPU with the card that the metal is barely visible. Put the cooler on top and that's it.

There is always something better, but usually there are differences of a few degrees Celsius. You may have applied too much or too little thermal paste. The cooler is not mounted correctly. The cooling/ventilation in the case is not optimal. The fans on the radiator are not turned up to full power. Also note that it is summer and the room temperature has a direct influence on the overall temperature. According to my information, the following thermal pastes are better: Better than Arctic 5: GELID GC Extreme (3.50g, 8.50W/m K) Better than Gelid Extreme: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (1g, 12.50W/m K) On the internet you can find an incredible amount of information on this, comparison of thermal pastes and temperatures, why is the temp too high for my CPU, etc. You might be interested in the following article: http://www.overclock.net/t/1557044/gelid-solutions-extreme-vs-arctic-silver-5-comparison

What is this paste for ?

This is heat conductive paste. It is used to better conduct the heat from the CPU to the cooler. This means: If you assemble a PC yourself, you smear a little of this paste on the processor and only then attach the cooler. This is the only way to ensure optimum cooling of the PC. You can find more information on the Internet, e.g. on Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C3%A4rmeleitpaste
