An optical patch cable (jumper cable) is a standard or custom-made connection optical cable that is terminated with optical connectors at both ends. Patch cables are used to connect devices within a distribution point or to connect active elements to the optical link terminated in the distribution point. Patch cables are typically duplex (2x fiber, 4x connector), but simplex cables (1x fiber, 2x connector) can also be provided for single-fiber xWDM applications upon request. The connectors E2000, SC, and LC are then connected in duplex format with a clip - this is detachable, allowing the duplex patch cable to be split into two simplex cables (not possible with the robust variant HEAVY DUPLEX).
