Olympus PEN E-PL8 Kit
14 - 42 mm, 16.10 Mpx, Micro Four Thirds
The description says the focal length is 24-84mm, but the picture shows a 14-42mm lens. What kind of lens does the camera come with?
With lenses, the focal length always remains the same, but different sensor sizes change the effective focal length on the camera. With the MFT format, this ratio is 1:2, i.e. the 14-42 mm must be multiplied by a factor of 2.
In order to establish comparability, the effective focal length is given in the so-called "full format" - the sensor format that corresponds to the former 35 mm film. The lens therefore has the correct designation on it, but on the camera (which has a smaller sensor) it becomes 24-84 mm.
If you are interested, google "crop factor", which explains the correlation even better.
It comes with a 14 - 42 mm lens.
