Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX99

It always depends on what you want from your pictures. If you just want to take pictures to have memories without having big demands on quality and result, this camera will do the job.
But if you want to take better pictures, you might have to invest a little more in the camera. With this camera, you are rather at the lower end of the camera spectrum.

30x optical zoom.
No matter how great the image quality is with 4x zoom. Cropping to infinity is not possible either.
Especially as it is very compact.
