I am often out and about with children and animals, so the camera has to release quickly, does the camera do that?
I wouldn't exactly call it a snapshot camera. There are faster ones.

Hello Holger
I already have some experience with the camera. (Recently 2'500 shots in California.) Advantages known: Great performance for a "pocket camera", big zoom, viewfinder, GPS, bubble level and: Releases quickly!
Switch on via "fold out viewfinder": Approx. 3-4 seconds until the first shot (extend lens etc.). Further shots (single images): In good lighting conditions, shots are possible every second, triggering "immediately" (delay hardly noticeable). With flash, of course, slower (3-4 seconds per shot), release slightly delayed (approx. 0.5 to 1 second). However: if you release quickly, there is a risk of blurring if the autofocus is not yet ready. My observation: the problem is usually behind the viewfinder... At least I could still make out the tail fin of the dolphin at the edge of the shot... Compared to system cameras (e.g. various Nikon), there is hardly any relevant difference.
Tip: Shoot series of three, follow the moving object. Take lots of pictures, most of them are rubbish anyway. But one of them is excellent! Conclusion: worth buying!
Good snapshot
