The Thermal Grizzly Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame V2 (DDFV2) is a CPU mounting frame specifically designed for AMD X3D processors of the 7000 series, while maintaining compatibility with non-X3D CPUs. It is important to note that the DDFV2 is not compatible with Ryzen 8000G processors.

It is compatible with both standard Ryzen 7000 processors and X3D CPUs, allowing them to be mounted with this Direct Die Frame without the integrated heat spreader and without the Socket Actuation Mechanism (SAM). Due to the altered dimensions of the Intel Alder Lake processors (Intel Core 12th Gen) and Raptor Lake (Intel Core 13th Gen) for the Intel LGA1700 socket compared to the socket-1200 processors, as well as the accompanying changes to the socket dimensions, new mounting brackets for CPU coolers have become necessary. Additionally, the standard ILM only has contact points in the center of the elongated CPU. This results in uneven pressure distribution of the processor in the socket, causing the surface of the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) to curve concavely, which means that the base plate of the CPU cooler primarily makes contact at the edges of the IHS, leaving the thermal hotspot in the center of the CPU uncovered.

The practical AM5 adapter and offset mounting kit for AMD Socket AM5 motherboards includes cooler brackets for offset mounting of the CPU, as well as adapter screws from UNC 6-32 to M3 and M4 threads. With the help of the adapter screws, CPU coolers that require an M3 or M4 thread instead of the UNC 6-32 thread of the cooler mounting screws can be installed, as is the case with various AIOs or water coolers.

The offset brackets allow compatible CPU coolers to be optionally mounted off-center on the processor to optimize cooling performance. Since the introduction of the chiplet design in Ryzen CPUs, the hottest point of the heat spreader is no longer in the center but has been slightly shifted downwards and outward depending on the CPU.
