Typically, a long focal length of 500 mm is housed in a 500 mm mount. To achieve a handy, universal, and compact solution, we applied a trick with this lens. The light path is simply folded by two high-precision ground ring mirrors. In addition to the compact design and more than 50% larger aperture compared to a lens with the same focal length, this results in a very short minimum focusing distance of just 2 meters. Focusing is done manually. The lens can be used with automatic or manual exposure depending on the camera. Technically, it is not possible to use an aperture in the folded light path. If light reduction is necessary, this is achieved through neutral density filters that can be screwed onto the rear of the lens. There is a thread size of M34x0.5 for this purpose.

Practically: The lens does not have a fixed infinity stop. Focusing is done by swinging, allowing the focus point to be reliably found from out of focus to sharp and back to out of focus. T2 connection, operating instructions: The T2 adapter is screwed onto the lens, and then the lens is secured. After loosening the screws on the side of the T2 adapter, the lens can be uprighted – align the marking upwards. Tightening the screws again securely holds the optics and the adapter in place.

The advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor include time savings in post-processing. A large number of lens errors such as distortion, edge softness, or vignetting occur in the outer areas of the image. When using a lens designed for full-frame on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not utilized. This achieves maximum quality, and additional post-processing time for correcting lens errors is not required.
