Normally, a long focal length of 500mm is also accommodated in a 500mm mount. To achieve a handy, universal, and compact solution, we used a trick with this lens. The beam path is simply "folded" by means of two high-precision ground ring mirrors. In addition to the compact design and the more than 50% higher aperture compared to a lens of the same focal length, this results in a very short close-up range of only 2 meters. The focusing is done manually. The lens can be used with automatic or manual exposure, depending on the camera. It is technically not possible to use an iris diaphragm in the folded beam path. If light reduction is necessary, this is simply made possible by grey filters, which are screwed in front of the rear lens. There is a thread M34x0.5 for this purpose. Practical: The lens has no fixed infinity stop. Focusing is carried out "pendulously" by finding the point of focus reliably from unsharp to sharp to unsharp. T2 connection, operating tip: The T2 adapter is screwed onto the lens, then the lens is locked in place. After loosening the screws on the side of the T2 adapter, the lens can be "straightened up" - aligning the index upwards. Tightening the screws again reliably secures the optics and adapter. Advantages of a full format lens on a camera with APS-C sensor: save time in post-processing. A large number of lens defects such as distortion, edge blurring, or vignetting occur in the outer areas of the image. If you use a lens calculated for full format on a camera with APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. Thus, the maximum quality is achieved, and additional post-processing time for the correction of lens errors is therefore not necessary.
