    purchased this product

Compact good display, mMn. ideal for RasPi/Retropie projects that are powerbank/battery operated. No soldering necessary. Follow instructions, connected, configured and working in <10 minutes.

Just the right part for my mobile retropie project:
The screen works great, the resolution is more than sufficient for retro games on this 7", colours, brightness, contrast etc. are tiptop.
    No soldering or similar necessary,
HDMI and power input available, compact.

I was able to run the Raspberry Pi 3 (not overclocked) with my powerbank (RAVPower RP-PB043 20100mAh, Quick Charge 3.0, iSmart 2.0).
    [RAVPower RP-PB043 (20100mAh, Quick Charge 3.0, iSmart 2.0)](https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/ravpower-rp-pb043-20100mah-quick-charge-30-ismart-20-powerbank-5846632)
and I could easily power the Adafruit monitor via one of the USB ports of the Pi thanks to the low power consumption (std setting/full backlight). Tutorials on configuring the Pi with this monitor are easy to find, e.g.:
    learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-5-800x480-tft-hdmi-monitor-touch...

Since the screen itself has no built-in speakers to eliminate the white noise via the 3.5mm headphone output, I added the command "disable_audio_dither=1" (without the "..") to ...boot/config.txt and everything worked.

I noticed one negative point: the screen glows for me, i.e. if I am in a menu with a white rectangle and black background for a moment and then switch to a user interface with a darker layout, I still "see" the white rectangle from the previous screen "glowing" for one/two seconds. However, I don't really know my way around this either, possibly it's due to the design. I have not yet checked a possible source of error on my part or researched possible solutions.

In any case, it doesn't bother me when I'm gaming or I don't notice it there.

I am very happy with the screen.

    Pro

    • Price
    • Resolution, colours, contrast and brightness
    • Compact design, easier to configure for the RasPi than expected
    • Low power consumption, even less if the backlight is reduced

    Contra

    • "Afterglow" as described above, but does not bother me when gaming
