Product details

This HDMI monitor from Adafruit features a 7" display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. It is large enough for most software while being compact enough for portable projects with the Raspberry Pi or other systems. The entire unit can be powered through a single USB port. The monitor includes a TFP401 HDMI/DVI decoder from TI, which converts unencrypted video signals into 24-bit color pixels. HDCP is not supported. With a standard 800x480 display and 150 mA backlight, the total power consumption is approximately 600 mA. This can be reduced to 400 mA by setting the backlight to half brightness. The decoder and the display itself (without backlight) draw about 250 mA. For more control, there is a PWM input that allows for continuous adjustment of the backlight. This monitor utilizes Twisted-Nematic (TN) technology, which excels with extremely short response times. High response times can lead to unsightly motion blur in fast-moving content. The TN panel of this monitor is fast enough to prevent this effect, making it an excellent choice for multimedia applications.
