The product will be released on 19.05.2022. The rating is only possible after the sales launch. Digitec itself writes hahahah... Maniiiiipulatioooon, or an "error in the system".
Hello srufu,
the WH-1000XM5 definitely have active noise cancellation (ANC), even if the description sometimes only uses "NC". This is not a misnomer, but a simplified form. You can also find more details on the technical specifications of the headphones on our website.

I use my WH-1000XM5 exclusively for listening to music/podcasts while travelling. So I can't answer this question directly.
However, I spend 6-8 hours a day in team meetings at work and have already tried out various headsets (Jabra, etc.). The only ones that effectively transmit only your voice and really filter out ALL background noise and voices are the Sennheiser Presence.
I wouldn't use ANC headphones for calls; they're not built for that, always use a headset specifically for that purpose.

There are still reports of a possible weak point in the hinge of the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones (breakage in the earpiece). As things stand, this design has not been officially revised.
In the event of a warranty claim, the manufacturer categorises such damage as mechanical damage caused by use, which means that the repair will not be covered. Without additional insurance, you may therefore have to pay the repair costs yourself.
In principle, the headphones work very well, but they should be handled with care to minimise the risk of breakage.
Yes, the Bluetooth function is switched off when you use the headphones with the supplied cable. This means that there is no Bluetooth radiation as the function is not available.
No, these headphones have both passive and active noise cancellation. The product claim only refers to passive isolation, but manufacturer information and tests confirm advanced active noise cancelling (ANC) with two processors and eight microphones.
Hello,
Thank you for your question.
The WH-1000XM5 offers improved Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) compared to the XM4, especially for high-frequency sounds such as voices. The "passive noise cancelling" claim only refers to the isolation provided by the ear pads. The XM5 also impresses in 2025 with excellent sound, high wearing comfort and good battery life - a very solid model.
The XM6 brings the latest technological improvements, including a more powerful processor for ANC. It is also rumoured to have reintroduced the foldable design, which makes it more practical when travelling.
Depending on your needs, you can choose the right model. If you need support or further advice, we are happy to help.

Hello Maurus. Unfortunately, the problem is known and you have to switch to no-name products, i.e. ear cushion spare parts, in any case I did so. Yours sincerely
Invest a little and buy the Sony WH-1000XM6 straight away. If not, then the XM5. They are brilliant headphones and have only recently received a firmware update. I have them myself. But I'm now switching to the 6s.
It was one for me. Tightened, pulled down a little until the length of the bracket fitted, broken on one side. Sony didn't cover anything under warranty, nor did Digitec.
This was a price error by a third-party retailer, hence this procedure. A bug in the system caused such an unrealistic price to be displayed. However, the errors have now been rectified.
Thank you very much for pointing this out. We will be happy to pass this on internally to the responsible department and hope that this will be adjusted promptly.
Unfortunately, we can't answer this specifically as we don't have the experience. However, the question remains in the Community in case anyone can help.
