Question about Sony WH-1000XM5
The XM5 says "Passive Noise Cancellation", but is it just as good ANC as the XM4? Or is there a difference? Is this model still worthwhile in 2025, or what are the arguments in favour of the XM6?

The WH-1000XM5 offers improved Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) compared to the XM4, especially for high-frequency sounds such as voices. The "passive noise cancelling" claim only refers to the isolation provided by the ear pads. The XM5 also impresses in 2025 with excellent sound, high wearing comfort and good battery life - a very solid model.
The XM6 brings the latest technological improvements, including a more powerful processor for ANC. It is also rumoured to have reintroduced the foldable design, which makes it more practical when travelling.

Personal experience: XM4 is much better than the XM5. Overall, the XM6 has better ANC and more modern technology than the XM4.
