When I print a small object directly in the centre, everything works fine. However, when it gets bigger (spread over the surface) the printer drags the filament behind it. What could be the reason for this?

We have a similar problem: We bought the 3D printer occasion. We can't get the driver to run, partly because the registration number from the previous model is already in use. What should we do? All three notebooks in the household do not recognise the hardware of the printer plugged in. We have already downloaded Silhouette Alta....

Nowadays, in my opinion, the printer is no longer worth the effort. You can get printers for less than CHF 200 that can do much more and are much, much, much simpler and more reliable (e.g. Bambu Lab A1 mini). You are probably even doing something good for the environment when you consider how much waste from misprints you can save with a new printer. Regarding the problem: It should be possible to operate the ALTA with an alternative slicer (Cura, Octoprint), then the Silhouette software is no longer needed. I couldn't try it out, but you can find instructions by googling.

I bought an ALTA about 2 years ago, printed a few parts and then stopped using it for a while. Although everything is still installed as it was the last time I used it, the software no longer starts. Neither from the desktop, nor directly when selecting an existing file. I have downloaded the software from the manufacturer and installed it again. Does not start. During the installation it said something about a free 1 month subscription? I don't want that and it wasn't in the product description before I bought it! Do I have to buy another product or is there a possibility to use this ALTA again without Internet and without any subscription?

Is there filament for the Alta that is suitable for food? The existing PLA is not suitable for food...

PETG - but unfortunately the current software of the Alta is not yet ready, because higher temperatures are required for this material. Silhouette promises an update for the printer in the next 5-6 months so that PETG can also be processed.
