There is a software update for the Icy Box on the website, but needs a Windows computer for it: https://icybox.de/en/product.php?id=19
Also had weird phenomena with my MacBook Pro, so switched to another docking station as the Icy Box is officially designed for Windows 10.
The IB-DK2106-C can only do 30Hz with 4K and that is absolutely not recommended, scrolling at 30Hz is a torture for the eyes, 60Hz is at least necessary for it to be good in the long run. In general, you can say about these docks that if a VGA connection is also included, then it's usually over with 4K and 60Hz.
The docking solution can do 2 x 4K with 60Hz:
i-tec USB 3.0 / USB-C Dual 4K Dock (USB C)
Yes, a Macbook Air with M1 processor can control an external screen, I would use a large 32 inch 4K UHD screen on the Macbook Air with M1 processor instead of two small screens (don't know how big they are). They are not expensive, e.g. this model would be very good because it can also charge the Macbook Air at the same time via USB-C, so you only need to connect one USB-C cable for picture, sound and charging.
Samsung Smart Monitor M7 S32BM700UU (3840 x 2160 Pixels, 32 ")
Hi Thomas , the docking station has a usb c power port , there you can connect a usb c charger and via the usb c cable which goes to the laptop from the charging station, it can be charged at the same time, but only if your laptop supports charging via usb c.
Hello
We had 8 of these in use, also with HP Probook. We replaced them because the HDMI connections didn't work... I don't know what's wrong with this product. My tip: replace it! You already have the power supply, you can continue to use it.
Your notebook may not have a usb-c that supports DP. Try connecting a monitor directly to the notebook with HDMI. If this works, then it is almost certainly due to the USB-C.
DisplayPortâ„¢-over-USB Type-C enables full DisplayPort A/V performance (monitor resolutions of 4K and more), data transfer over SuperSpeed USB (USB 3.1) and up to 100 watts of power with the convenience of a reversible plug and cable that work both ways.
Setup: 1 MacBookAcir (M1 Chip), Icy Box, Samsung Monitor. (Monitor Icy Boy: HDMI)
Setup 2 ProBook (2014) Samsung Monitor (Monitor MacBookPro - Monitor : HDMI
Problem: Whenever I start the NotebookAir (Setup1) the screen gets no signal. Remains dark
But when I connect the monitor to my old MacBook (Setup2), the picture comes up immediately. OK, that can happen.
And now it gets really strange, when I connect the monitor to the Icy box again, the monitor also gets the picture of the new Airbook in Setup 1. Settings are the same. OS too. How can this be? Does the Airbook not send an activation impulse to the monitor?
Hello all
I have the following setup:
IB-DK2106-C
Lenovo ThinkPad T15
2x Lenovo ThinkVision LT2252p Wide
Standard mouse & keyboard
I have connected the screens to the docking station with an HDMI/DP cable.
The screens are not recognised by the docking station.
The keyboard works fine. The laptop is charging and the lan connection is up and working.
If I connect the screens directly to the laptop via HDMI cable, the whole thing works.
Does anyone know of any possible causes for this problem?
Hello, I have attached a keyboard, mouse and 2 monitors via HDMI. Unfortunately, I only get a very poor resolution and aspect ratio on one screen at a time. Does anyone know why this could be? I have changed the cables and also used fresh ones and could not determine that it was due to a monitor, socket or cable. It is simply the one identified as "3" by the laptop.
Thanks and greetings
PS: As a workaround, I now have the 2nd monitor directly connected to the laptop, but it shouldn't be like this.
