Obstacle detection is apparently only active in mowing mode. I didn't see any obstacle detection settings for paths. Obstacle detection settings are either in the general mowing settings or in the settings for each zone. I didn't try intentionally putting an obstacle on the path to see how it behaved. To avoid any problems and to ensure that the hose stays in place, my solution is to use a ramp like this: - https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07ZZG5WMV (diameter up to 15mm) - https://www.amazon.de/dp/B09T351GVL (diameter up to 30mm) Look at the manual on page 66 of the Dreame A2: https://gzhls.at/blob/ldb/c/c/a/f/09baa3723b12dd00cc8dc2ac4f18a6b0e79b.pdf which shows that up to 4cm it shouldn't cause any problems on paths. Moreover, if you opt for this model, it's likely that you'll deactivate LiDAR obstacle detection and configure the blackout zones because it's so sensitive, or that you'll set it to the maximum height (20cm) so that you don't run into trees or other large enough obstacles that don't have an explicit blackout zone around them.

There are a ton of spare blades in the pack and they're quick-clips. From memory, I've got a figure of 81 blades in total, so if you change them once a year, you've got 27 years' worth... I think the robot will have given up the ghost long before you run out of stock.

The Dreame A2 robot lawnmower can also be installed and operated in the garden without Wi-Fi. It uses a LiDAR sensor and a front camera for navigation, which enable precise orientation and obstacle detection without the need for Wi-Fi, GPS or additional radio masts. Alternatively, the connection to the control system can also be established via Bluetooth. This means that WLAN is not absolutely necessary for operation in the garden.

My experience with the A2 so far has shown that it reacts incredibly sensitively to obstacles. I have therefore even deactivated all obstacle detection (LiDAR and camera) on my absolutely flat lawn. If you do this, each obstacle must be defined once as an exclusion zone. I think if you deactivate obstacle detection, it will drive under your goal - with obstacle detection activated, it will stop 99% of the time.

Helpful answer

A second independent map for the Dreame A2 robot lawnmower does not necessarily require a second charging station. The robot lawnmower supports multi-area management and dual-fusion mapping, which means it can manage multiple areas with a single charging station.
