A second independent map for the Dreame A2 robot lawnmower does not necessarily require a second charging station. The robot lawnmower supports multi-area management and dual-fusion mapping, which means it can manage multiple areas with a single charging station.
The facts are these: I have a mowing area in front of the house - where the charging station is - and one behind the house. When the robot is in the mowing area behind the house, it's unable to mow. Final verdict: Without a second charging station, it's impossible. With a minimum price of 250 CHF for it, which adds to the dizzy prices of this robot... *heavy silence*
The key to the problem is that the path is defined between the starting point in the second zone and the charging station (in the main zone), which increases the distances very quickly. Diagrams showing a charging station a long way from the second mowing zone are misleading (or not to scale). The charging station needs to be close to both zones to limit the length of the path.
In my case, that's not possible. I'm still looking for a solution for my second zone at the moment (sad sigh). Cable robots aren't so bad after all. They mow everywhere.

This allows the robot to connect different maps with each other, even if there is only one starting point. If the second area is completely separated, an additional station would have to be used.
