In addition to the traditional monochrome Picture Control configuration, the Z f now includes two new Picture Controls: "Neutral; monochrome" and "Deep Tones; monochrome." A dedicated black-and-white position has been added to the photo/video selector switch with the abbreviation B&W, allowing for an instant switch between recording modes.

The camera is also equipped with a variety of other inspiring functions and features, including "Creative Picture Control" and pixel shift shooting—a feature that makes the Z f the first Nikon system camera to support this. Additionally, it offers a focus measurement field VR to suppress blur around the focus measurement area, ensuring outstanding results.

The new camera provides a wealth of video features, including 10-bit H.265 video recording directly in the camera, as well as the ability to record up to 125 minutes of uninterrupted video in 4K UHD. Other features have been inherited from the Z 9, including the ability to adjust ISO sensitivity in 1/6 LW increments and the display of a red frame during video recording.
