eSUN TPU-LW

Flexible lightweight TPU with customisable density and strength. This innovative TPU filament from eSun has been specially developed to foam during printing. Density and strength can be customised through printing temperature and extrusion factor. With a maximum foaming ratio of 200 %, the weight can be significantly reduced without losing stability. The material has a fine matt texture that minimises visible layer lines and gives it a pleasant feel. Despite its high flexibility, TPU-LW remains tear-resistant and elastic, so that printed objects return to their original shape after deformation. Thanks to its good adhesion and easy paintability, it is ideal for modelling, cosplay, flexible wearables and sports equipment. Whether for lightweight aeroplane models or flexible protective components.

Quick guide to printing with TPU-LW:

• Deactivate retract: Switch off pulling movements in the slicer, as the TPU continues to foam up in the hotend. Stringing is normal - vase mode can help.
• Adjust first layer: Set speed to 100 % and deactivate slowdown for small areas. Adjust extrusion rate (e.g. 58% at 260°C).
• Optimise adhesion: If the component adheres too strongly to the print bed, reduce the base layer extrusion value.
• Observe the maximum printing temperature: Do not operate PTFE tubing above 250°C - use a metal hotend for higher temperatures.
• Avoid discolouration: Excessive temperatures can cause yellow discolouration or nozzle sticking - reduce temperature if necessary.
• Ensure a constant temperature: Perform PID tuning and deactivate speed reductions to ensure stable foaming.
• Fine-tune the extrusion: Higher temperature → stronger foaming → less extrusion required. Higher printing speed → less foaming → more extrusion required.
