Digitec branch in Winterthur soon to be a Galaxus store and relocated to the train station

New name, new concept, new address: the Digitec store in Winterthur is moving and being redesigned. On 11 August 2025, the first Galaxus store to sport a new design will be opening its doors at Winterthur train station. At the same time, the current Digitec store on Zürcherstrasse 42 will be serving customers for the last time on 8 August 2025.

We’re moving! Namely to the fifth-largest train station in Switzerland measured by passenger frequency. The current Digitec store on Zürcherstrasse 42 will be opening its doors for the last time on 8 August 2025. The new store, located directly at Winterthur station on the first floor of «Stadttor» (Bahnhofplatz 5, 8400 Winterthur), opens on 11 August 2025.

Not only is the new branch shedding the Digitec name, it will also be the online retailer’s first Galaxus store showcasing a completely new concept. To date, there’s only been one Galaxus store, in Wohlen. At the new location, customers can continue to pick up orders, drop off returns and do some on-site shopping from a limited range 365 days a year.

Key facts:

• 8 August marks the last day of the Digitec store in Winterthur, where customers will be served until 7 p.m.
• No store will be available on 9 and 10 August due to the move.
• The new Galaxus store at Winterthur train station is set to open its doors on 11 August at 10 a.m. It will be open 365 days a year.

Centrally located at Winterthur’s buzzing train station, the new store is easily accessible by public transport. Customers arriving by car can use the «Bahnhof-Parkhaus Winterthur» (page in German).
