What does dimmable mean. Does the brightness automatically adjust to the surroundings or can it only be dimmed manually?

The alarm clock can be dimmed manually.

The unit cannot automatically dim its display. There are 2 buttons on the back with which the display can be dimmed in 9 steps.

The Pure Siesta Rise (DAB+), for example, has a display that can be dimmed automatically (i.e. with a brightness sensor).
