The product looks interesting. But I still have a few questions:
Is scanning via feeder possible or do the documents to be scanned have to be placed on the glass each time? And are the scanned documents generated directly via OCR as searchable PDFs? If so, how many pages per minute can be scanned via the feeder with the OCR function active?
Scanning multiple sheets via feeder with double-sided text with OCR basically works, i.e. text can be searched very well.
The scanning process itself only takes about 6-7 seconds per page.
However, processing and sending the email then takes quite a long time: 5 minutes with 2 double-sided sheets.
I would not guarantee that more than 2 double-sided sheets can be processed at the same time; there was an error with 3 sheets.
Hello Abwalche
The device itself does not have an OCR function, as far as I know. That is done by the software on the PC. How fast the entire process is, of course, depends on various factors: Scan resolution, B/W or colour, amount of text, RAM + processor from the PC. Personally, I use the Brother iPrint&Scan software/app. At a resolution of approx. 200dpi/colour + 20 pages scanned on one side, the whole process takes approx. 1.5 minutes on W-LAN with a very good connection. The file is then stored as an OCR (searchable) PDF document in the desired folder on the PC or, if available, on the NAS (setting matter).
The MFC-L3770CDW has 2 CIS (scanners), the additional CIS is located in the document feeder (ADF) itself. This allows it to scan the back side when the front side is scanned, if desired.
