Question about Delock USB Y-cable

The black output works but whatever I attach to the red port is not recognised? The aim was that 2 devices PC/laptop can access the same USB printer. It only works via the black port. Is it defective or did I do something wrong?

The red connector is for additional power only. This cable is not suitable for connecting 2 computers to one terminal. You will need a USB switch. For example, the following products: Aten US224 2-port USB 2.0 Peripheral Switch (manual) or Aten US221A 2-port USB 2.0 Peripheral Switch (automatic).
