Retail price in the US $5'499 USD (5'012 CHF). Retail price on Digitec 6'799 CHF. *Very long sigh of frustration.

This is not the USA. The US prices are without tax etc.
Compare if already with the price in Germany. The price is 5999 Euro which is 6280 CHF.

It is not a stupid comparison. To make it fair we should actually compare the US retail price to the ex-VAT price here:

Swiss price ex-VAT: 6'295.37 CHF or 6’909.63 USD which is 25.6% more than the US price... Do we get a 25.6% more powerful camera? No. It's the same product...
