only power - or can the cable also be connected to the docking for video, audio, ethernet etc.?

The cable is only a charging cable, other purposes than charging are not possible.
The cable can only be used for charging but only if the source provides more than 5V, e.g. 12V. I tried it with a UPS 5V powerbank, but nothing happened. This cable has more than disappointed me because I wanted to use it for the wilderness in Northern Canada via a powerbank - it doesn't work.
