It appears that this model comparing to previous one TZ91 is just a minor update. Description says Panasonic DC-TZ96D (24 - 720 mm, 20.30 Mpx, 2/3") but actual sensor size the same as before 1/2.3". Am I missing important improvements?
Digitalkamera.de: TZ91 vs. TZ 96 In direct comparison with its predecessor, the Lumix DMC-TZ91, the DC-TZ96 has only added a few really new features. The most important new features of the TZ96 are the viewfinder with 2.36 million pixels, which is about twice as high in resolution, and the magnification of the viewfinder, which has increased from 0.46x to 0.53x. A completely new feature of the TZ96 is the possibility to establish a low-power connection with a smart device via Bluetooth 4.2.
Of course, the sensor remains the same small size. This is not otherwise possible with such cameras. They will disappear in the next few years anyway and be replaced by mobile phones. These absurd zoom ranges in mediocre quality only serve marketing purposes anyway. I would otherwise recommend a camera with a 1 inch sensor. Sony RX100 series or Lumix LX15 or Lumix Tz202.
