Is the price of 2299 an oversight ?
Hi Chris ,-)
Yes, it's amazing, isn't it? Seems realistic. Unfortunately, camera and lens prices in Europe have risen by 20% in some cases in recent months and this is the consequence of that. Presumably they're trying to see how far they can go. Officially, price fluctuations and some production problems (earthquake areas) and Brexit are supposed to be to blame (?).
I think the price will fall below the 2k mark in the next few weeks. But even then: I am out! Maybe in 6-8 months I'll buy yours (little used, in perfect condition) for CHF 7-800 ,-p
Greetings
Dagmar
PS: I don't think I will invest in high-end MFT systems at new prices again. If at all, then only in used ones... And not because the cameras or lenses are bad, on the contrary, the Oly and the four manual f0.95 Voigtländer lenses are wonderful, but the resale value is too low for me as a "system hopper"....
No... it's already been reported on the 43rumors site... 2299.- is about right.
But most cameras are quite expensive at the beginning ;)
Of course, the price development is not to the liking of us consumers, but digitec can't help that (because of the yen exchange rate). I used to have Cxxxx SLR cameras for years and have no regrets about switching to Oly. On top of that, the Oly Pro lenses are world class.
Yes, I also swallowed empty but ordered immediately (in return I will now sell the old M1 and M5MkII Limited). Finally, the Oly service is also world class!
My comment about the almost constant price change has not been published. This Olympus of 1501.-CHF (-100) was increased to almost 1600.-CHF (-100). Today it is 1579. -! A different price every day.

Yes, the price is certainly right. I also thought about whether I wanted to buy the camera at that price or whether I should wait. It's always the same question: do you want to wait until the price drops or be one of the first? I bought the Oly and haven't regretted it for a moment. I had the previous OMD M1 and this camera is in a league of its own.
It depends on the currency in which digitec or the suppliers buy.
If it were USD, the price would be around 1999 CHF, which would be somewhat more acceptable.
2299 CHF, presumably bought in GBP or EURO, is a bit crass.
The dealers in Switzerland would have to put pressure on them to be able to buy in other currencies.
