Is it compatible with DisplayPort?

Basically yes (same connection as MINI DisplayPort), but there is one combination where the cable does not work.
Laptop (Thunderbolt) <-> Monitor (Thunderbolt) is ok
Laptop (Mini DP) <-> Monitor (Mini DP) is ok
Laptop (Mini DP) <-> Monitor (Thunderbolt) is ok
Laptop (Thunderbolt) <-> Monitor (Mini DP) does NOT work
