Is 5 Gbit enough to operate an external screen with 4K/60Hz?

This depends on the colour depth and the compression, but unfortunately 5 Gbit/s is not sufficient for 4k@60Hz native. HDMI 2.0, for example, can transmit 4K content at 60 Hz with full colour depth, and the bandwidth there is 18 Gbit/s.
