Question about Focusrite Scarlett solo 3rd gene

I know this thing can do a lot more, but can I just use it as a USB DAC amplifier (rear active monitors, front headphones)? If so, can I switch between the two outputs, or do I have to unplug the unused one?

Answer B) Both outputs (headphones and line out) are active at the same time. The volume of both outputs is changed by the one rotary knob.

Additional question: Does anyone know of a similar part, at a similar price, where you don't have to reconnect?
