Hello, I have a Tough TG-6 and an Olympus UFL-3 flash with fibre optic connector. In all UW modes I have severely underexposed images. It looks like the syncronisation is not tuned. Since I have to use the flash as a slave flash, I don't know what to do. Can someone help me? LG Roland
Hello Roland
This can have many causes, especially under water. Does the UFL-3 trigger at all? How far away is the camera and flash from the subject?
Do you have exposure compensation active? Next to the aperture (e.g. F2.8), there should be 0.0. If it says e.g. -2.0, the picture is underexposed by 2 stops.
You can rule out the sync time by checking the shutter speed. Anything slower than or equal to 1/60s should not be a problem.
A possible setting for close subjects would be mode A, F2.8, ISO 200, fill flash at 1/64 power (triggers only the UFL-3), centre-weighted metering, exposure compensation -0.7 (darkens the background, the close subject is brightened by the flash), UFL-3 power at max (it's not the strongest). And then adjust to the conditions.
