Hello, is desktop extension possible? Or does it only show the same image (mirroring) on both devices?

With the splitter, the picture is actually only split (doubled). Normally only one signal can be displayed per output. If you only have one HDMI output and still want to expand to two external screens, then you need a USB2HDMI adapter, for example.
