Can this be painted with regular interior house paint? I would want it to match our color accented wall. Should I sand it a bit and spray it with grey primer first?

I think it is possible to paint this article. However, regarding the choice of paint, I would, if I were you, ask for advice in a DIY shop, in order to choose a paint that adheres completely to the surface (to avoid the paint flaking for example).
