Can this adapter pass audio from the iPhone 7 (my car is from 2009 and has an iPod "male" connector) ? I heard that the Lightning to 30-pin adapter only supports audio up to iPhone 6 ?

This should work without any problems. Apple no longer officially offers the adapter here, but it seems to still be available here: https://www.apple.com/sg...

Under Compatibility you can see that it still works with the latest devices.
