Can anyone tell me more about the video formats? I don't want .mov files. It says here that .avi is also possible, but does that really apply to all available codecs and frame rates?

I have briefly looked through the settings and can only see the AVI (container) format for the Motion JPEG (codec) formats. This is only for the resolutions 1280x720 and 640x480. All others are in MOV format. Why don't you want MOV? Conversion should not be a problem, even VLC can do it.
