And how much is a little more electricity. ? Is a USB mobile phone charger enough ? or what does it need ? Matthias
It is sufficient to connect the red connector to a 2nd USB port.
A practical example would be the Nintendo Wii U, which supplies too little power for most USB hard drives.
If you connect the Y-cable to two ports of the WII U and behind it the USB hard drive, enough power is supplied to make it work.
The same problem can also be solved for, for example, Smart TVs or Raspberry Pi's and other devices that do not supply enough power via USB.
