4. TBS Electronics DCM Battery Protect Relay (12V/500A)
The modular DC battery protection relay (TBP) has the same functions as the remote battery switch (RBS). It is an intelligent high-current magnetic interlocking contactor that can handle continuous DC currents of up to 500 amps. While the RBS is mainly used as a locally or externally controlled battery load switch, the TBP has several additional functions. Most importantly, it can protect your battery without the need for an external measurement and control device. In addition to remote control of the TBP, the top-mounted buttons also offer the option of opening or closing the main contact locally. For external control, the TBP is equipped with a 5-wire interface cable. It can be configured to accept two-wire or single-wire ON/OFF commands for optimum flexibility. The TBP is a magnetically latching relay, meaning no current is drawn from the battery when the contact is closed. This is a major advantage compared to conventional relays, which require a sometimes significant holding current to keep the contact closed. In addition to all the functions and advantages of the RBS, the TBP has built-in battery protection. It automatically opens the main contact as soon as the battery voltage falls below a programmable undervoltage value. If the battery voltage then rises above the programmable reclosing voltage, the main contact is closed again. Another practical function of the TBP is the override mode. In situations where the TBP has opened the main contact due to an undervoltage in the battery, a long press of the close button (local or external) will close the main contact for 1 minute. This allows the user to jump-start a system with a low battery. If the battery voltage is still too low after this minute, the contact opens again. However, it remains closed if a charger was connected during the bridging time and the battery voltage rises again.

7. TBS Electronics TBS - Remote battery master switch (48V/350A)
Remote Controlled Battery Main Switch / Bistable Relay
The TBS Remote Battery Switch (RBS) is an intelligent magnetic high-current relay capable of handling direct currents of up to 350 amps continuous load.
Used as a remote-controlled main switch
The RBS can be easily installed in the engine room or battery compartment, while being controlled from a more convenient location via a small switch mounted on the control panel. The RBS can also be controlled, for example, by a battery monitor or a managed lithium battery.
In addition to the remote control of the RBS, the buttons located above also allow for local opening or closing of the main contact. For external control, the RBS is equipped with a 5-wire interface cable. It can be configured to accept two-wire or one-wire ON/OFF commands to ensure optimal flexibility.
The RBS is a magnetically latching relay, meaning that no current is drawn from the battery when the contact is closed. This is a significant advantage compared to conventional relays that require a (sometimes substantial) holding current to keep the contact closed.
Another advantage of the RBS is its built-in protection features. It is protected against high/low supply voltage and high temperature. Additionally, there is an intelligent function for automatic fixing of light to moderate contact welds. Finally, the RBS is also ignition protected according to ISO 8846.
As a member of the TBS DC Modular family, the RBS can be part of a very compact DC distribution system. The footprint of the RBS is approximately 50% smaller compared to some competing products, making it ideal for tight spaces.
The TBS Remote Battery Switch 500A is available in 12 VDC, 24 VDC, and 48 VDC variants and is controlled via a positive signal.
