The "C" in C Sonnar T 1.5/50 ZM stands for both "compact" and "classic." The optical design and aperture shape are based on the classic Sonnar T 1.5/50 ZM from the 1930s, which was the fastest standard lens of its time. The already good anti-reflective properties of the classic predecessor have been further optimized with the anti-reflective coating on the Zeiss T. This lens exhibits a particularly harmonious "bokeh" and atmospheric subject isolation, creating a look reminiscent of the golden age of rangefinder photography.
